Male or FemaleEarly in the lives of Dwarf Shrimp it can be difficult to tell the difference between a male and a female shrimp, and even some adult Caridina species can be difficult to differentiate. Recently in a PlantedTank.net forum discussion a picture of a Yellow Shrimp started some debate. I would like to hear from my readers! What do you think this is, a male or a female? I would say it is a female, it is larger body than any males even full grown. A wider body, and more color. As for saddle, I would say this female shred her shell recently and has yet to develop it yet.

One vote for female based on the tail and body build… Any more guesses?

Looks like a femlae to me, although I’m not very experienced in the dwarf-shrimp hobby (I got 4 cherries intended on breedinmg and feeding to my puffers) but fell in love!! Anyways that’s my vote.

I’m a little late on this post but I also think it’d be a female. I’m going on the size of the body and, it may just be the photo quality but is that a saddle? I might be off on that last bit.
Nice blog. Subscribed to your feed.
