Soft Water Shrimp in Hard Water (Update #2)

Category: Breeding, Research, Date: Jun 5, 2008
Author: Dan - TheShrimpFarm.com

I have decided some of the parameters I am going to use for this experiment.

For the Soft Water aquarium I am going to keep the aquarium as close 60ppm TDS as I can and I am going to keep the Hard Water aquarium at around 300ppm.

My tap water comes out of the faucet at a TDS of exactly 500ppm. So I will have to lower the TDS by mixing a little bit of tap water into it to keep it from being liquid rock, but still hard.

All top offs will be with 0ppm TDS water.

The substrate in both aquariums will be Tahitian Moon Sand.

Both aquariums will have a small java fern and some java moss.

More Updates to come soon!
