Soft Water Shrimp in Hard Water (Update #3)Just a very quick update! About 2 days ago I started to set up the aquariums for this experiment. I will be waiting for these aquariums to fully cycle and then put some Neocaridina heteropoda in these aquariums for about a month or two to make sure the aquariums are ready to house shrimp! More updates to come soon! Helpful Resources

Interesting experiment Dan and I have been following since the start. I have done a similar experiment with S+ Grade CRS and though the experiment started mostly by mistake (wrong substrate) I still was careful to watch the change that occurred in my shrimp when moved from a harder water with PH around 7.2 to softer more acidic water with a PH of 6.4
Not only did breeding increase dramatically but so did survival rate of the young! Another very obvious change was in coloration and behavior as well. The white coloration is much brighter without the stress of less than optimal water conditions.
Looking forward to more of your updates and thanks for taking the time to set this up. There is allot of debate on the subject it seems, but though a species will indeed survive in water out of their normal parameters it does not mean they are healthy.
Cheers, Bill
