One of the newest shrimp that we offer in the Dwarf Shrimp Store are Fire Red Cherry Shrimp, and we are often asked what exactly they are. Well, the answer is simple!

Fire Red Cherry Shrimp are simply Red Cherry Shrimp that have been selectively bred to display bright and vibrant red color. Over the years the brightest and most colored shrimp that were found amongst the normal Red Cherry Shrimp have been separated and put into their own aquarium.

The striking color of Fire Red Cherry Shrimp are the result of this selective breeding!

I bought two red cherry shrimp from my local fish store for 7 bucks each. Then I found I could buy 30 of them from the Shrimp Farm for 40 bucks! So I did.I put some in my 75 gallon tank, and the rest in a 55 gal tank. The 55 gallon is my shrimp tank, and the 75 gallon is my display tank.I do a water change on the 75 gallon once a week and I also rinse the filter components out. When I do this I usually rescue 20 to 50 shrimp from the filter, and then put them in the 55 gallon. The local fish store buys them all back from me.But what's interesting is that most of the shrimp in the 75 gallon tank that are adult size are super fire red!I'd rather see those in my display tank then just the plain red cherry shrimp.I just think i'ts awesome!
