Anubias Nana Petite or Anubias Nana types in general are very easy aquatic aquarium plants to grow in your planted tank. They can survive a huge range of water parameters. This type is a very small variant and has become very popular choice amount planted tank experts and beginners alike.
Since this plant is a slow grower it is susceptible to algae growth on its leaves. It is a flowering plant that requires medium to low lighting. Nana Petite can benefit from fertilization to aid its growth. It is easily propagated simply cut or pull apart rhizomes to be replanted as you see fit.
Anubias Nana Petite grows best when attached to any hard surfaces like aquatic stones or driftwood.

Anubias Nana Petite Uses
- Uses in aquascaping. When attached to a surface as described above, this easy to care for aquarium plant makes a very decorative addition to the aquarium. It's a great, easy way to add some green to parts of the tank what would otherwise stay bare!
- Protection. Fish and fry in general love Anubias, as its leaf structure works very well to provide cover. Shrimp and shrimp fry in particular are very vulnerable and will love being able to use Anubias Nana Petite to hide. This makes it a great addition to community tanks that might contain tank mates with a taste for shrimp.
- Foraging grounds. We might not always realize it, but our aquariums are filled with life beyond just what we put in there. All plants and surfaces contain tiny living organisms (biofilm/aufwuchs/infusoria) that shrimp and (small) fish will gladly eat. The dense structures on Anubias Nana Petite make an especially great living space for these micro-creatures, which in turn makes it a great foraging location for our fish and shrimp. Add some Anubias to your shrimp tank and you'll constantly see your shrimp on there, picking off any bits of food they can find.
- Coldwater aquariums. Anubias can handle a very wide range of temperatures, which makes it a great plant for unheated tanks.
Anubias Nana Petite Care
Anubias is considered one of the easiest plants in the hobby, which means it doesn't actually have that many requirements. No need for added Co2, nutrient dosing or high lighting. If you're just growing it to keep your shrimp happy and healthy, you can just plant it into your tank and forget about it. However it will benefit and flower with medium lighting and regular fertilization.
