Hydrocotyle Tripartita Japan is a popular aquarium plant used in aquascaping for its ability to form dense, vibrant green carpets. Under proper lighting, it grows compact and low to the substrate, creating a lush foreground effect.

This plant spreads through runners, allowing it to quickly fill open areas of your tank and outcompete algae when healthy.

With moderate to high lighting and optional CO₂, it can form a tight carpet, but it will still grow in lower-tech setups with slightly taller growth.

For a full carpet effect, we recommend 3–5 portions

Commonly known as Hydrocotyle Japan, this plant gained widespread recognition thanks to acclaimed aquascapers like Takashi Amano. Its distinguishing feature lies in its clover-like leaves, forming dense clusters of greenery. Remarkably versatile, it adapts well to various aquarium zones, whether foreground, midground, or background. Thriving on minimal care, it exhibits rapid growth, often outpacing other tank flora if not regularly pruned. With frequent trimming and ample light coupled with CO2 supplementation, it maintains a low stature, creating a lush carpet effect in the foreground.

You are purchasing portions of 6 runners that are 3-5 inches in length

One portion is recommended to "seed" a 5 inch by 5 inch area of substrate. Plant each runner approximately 1.5" apart.
